CHILDREN’S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST SAYS “THANK YOU” TO CHEF PETER GORTON AND TO RODDAS CLOTTED CREAM

The week beginning September 18th marked a very special week for the Children’s Hospice South West. Not only had it been 10 years since they welcomed the first child across their threshold; it was also the beginning of, “National Children’s Hospice Week;” an awareness raising exercise of the invaluable work carried out across the country for life limited children and their families; however, for most supporters, the most emotional part of that week was the marking of the first anniversary of the death of their founder, Jill Farwell. MBE.

What then could be done to encourage celebration yet allow for quiet reflection? Of course the answer lay in our regions very own homegrown Cream Tea’s.

People really engaged with the idea, participating across the South West, from Marines to Playgroups.

Probably the two biggest contributors to the success of the event were Master Chef, Peter Gorton of the Horn of Plenty, who created a special assiette of desserts for his lunch menu, entitled “A Little Slice of Heaven,” reflecting the title of the Cookery Book compiled to raise funds for these most precious of children, and Philip Rodda, who kindly donated Roddas Clotted Cream to supporters of the Children’s Hospice South West for their events.

By way of a special thank you, Alison Berridge, Project Manager of the 10th birthday celebrations, will be bringing these two prominent, local businessmen together at the Horn of Plenty on Wednesday 2nd November at 12noon.

Alison would like to invite you for a press photograph opportunity at this time, by way of thanking them for their most generous help and support which in turn enables the Children’s Hospice to help over 200 children and their families across the South West.
